The free X-ISM meter from SSL plug-ins gives an indication of the ISPs.Īctivating 4x oversampling in the FabFilter Pro-L will help avoid most ISPs, but not all. To avoid inter-sample peaks you need to measure the ISPs and lower the output level by the same amount, which could be anything from nothing to several dBs. The -0.3 dBFS (not -0.2 dBFS) you're probably referring to is related to the minimum headroom necessary to avoid overs in MP3 conversion with hard limited material. Setting the output level to -0.2 dBFS will not avoid inter-sample peaks, just like setting the output level to any arbitrary level below full scale will not avoid inter-sample peaks. The Inflator, when set up accordingly, can be used as the very last process in the chain, even after a limiter - if so desired. When used early in the chain, the distortion tends to be emphasized by subsequent processing, since distortion accumulates. The Inflator can be used early or later in the chain.

Remember to put the output level on Fab limiter on -0.2dB to avoid intersample peaks. Inflator has to be first though on the Stereo Output.
